Despite the pandemic, 2020 has been a productive year for Marlowe Fire & Security as we continue on our journey to become the UK’s fire life safety and security service provider of choice.

As the year draws to a close, we take a look back at some of our achievements over the past 12 months. Our sincere thanks go to our customers, supply chain partners and all our Team Members who have made what we have achieved possible.

Wishing you all the best for the New Year!

Since January 2019, Marlowe Fire & Security Team Members have organised numerous fundraising activities and raised over £16,000 for Cancer Research UK.

Our Team Members took part in this year’s Walk All Over Cancer. The fundraising activity challenged those involved to walk 10,000 steps every day in March in aid of the charity Cancer Research UK.

Congratulations to Anne-Marie Bradburn, our Walk All Over Cancer Winner, with an amazing 359,671 steps and £245 + £57.50 in Gift Aid raised!

At the start of the pandemic, the Government introduced the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme to support businesses with their wage costs.

Marlowe Fire & Security continued throughout both lockdowns to retain its employees with minimum disruption, only furloughing colleagues in small numbers, where absolutely necessary.

We are proud to have retained our employee headcount ensuring our customers continue to receive the excellent service they have come to expect.

In response to the pandemic, our Innovation Team were proactive and took it upon themselves to independently design, develop, market and deliver a comprehensive range of Crisis Management Solutions including:
Fever Screening Solutions,
People Counting and Flow Control Systems,
WC Occupancy Control Solutions.

Our Crisis Management Solutions help protect businesses, and transition employees back to work in the wake of COVID-19, safely and in compliance with Government Guidelines.

Our Fire, Security and Alarm Monitoring Services are vital to the protection of the public, industry and critical infrastructure.

Throughout the pandemic and lockdown periods, our Division and all Marlowe Group companies remained fully operational, continuing to keep our customers safe and compliant with their essential safety, health and compliance obligations.

We implemented a number of measures to ensure the wellbeing and safety of our customers and our staff as they carry out their essential work.

Despite all the challenges of lockdown we have maintained the monitoring of critical alarms throughout the pandemic with no reduction in services.

6250 Fire Alarms handled with an average response time of 6 seconds
and 1286 Panic Alarms handled with an average response time of 8 seconds.

We were available to each and every one of our customers with advice and responses to their questions.

Once again, we were awarded a CHAS (SSIP) Premium Plus certificate of accreditation.

This achievement reflects the hard work of our HSQE Team and dedication throughout the business to the continual improvement of standards.

In the summer we launched e-learning with our partner Honeywell, and in a 4 month period our engineers completed 1,059 minutes of e-Learning.

Team Member Gary McConachie was commended for completing 397 minutes of self-directed learning in the Honeywell LMS platform.

We were admitted to the Membership of British Automatic Fire Sprinkler Association (BAFSA), the UK’s leading professional trade association for the fire sprinkler industry dedicated to ensuring that sprinkler systems are installed to the highest professional standards.

Through our dedication to the highest standards, we successfully completed our NSI audit, and our NSI NACOSS Gold and ARC Gold approval was upgraded to BS7858:2019.

BS7858 clearance is a code of practice set by the BSI which provides an employment screening standard for companies looking to meet the high standards required for candidates working in a secure or high-risk environment.

We congratulated Mark Gaunt, Senior Network Engineer for achieving the overall Employee of the Month winner 2020.

After our Employee of the Month initiative had been running for 12 months, every employee was given the opportunity to choose from all the previous winners and vote for the person they think has continued to exceed all expectations and has gone above and beyond in their role and therefore deserves to win the ultimate prize and be crowned the overall winner.

Well done Mark – Fantastic recognition from the entire business of your hard work and dedication!

In November, we refreshed our Employee Involvement programme Marlstones, which encourages 2 way communication between employees and senior Managers.

We are passionate about understanding how our business can improve through the eyes of those that work with our customers and work within our policies and procedures day to day.

A small forum of colleagues from across the business meet regularly to discuss ideas submitted and these are escalated to our board each month for review; each idea is responded to and any successful ideas received recognition.

Ensuring we are always at the forefront of Industry and Leadership practice, during 2020, 25 of our Team Members utilised apprentice approved training courses, including qualifications in Fire, Emergency and Security Systems Technician, Sales and Management.

In 2021, we are ambitious to improve our Training provision across the business with the introduction of the Marlowe Training Academy with an additional 20 apprentices starting courses in 2021.

In December we completed the rebrand of Flamefast Fire Systems Limited to Marlowe Kitchen Fire Suppression Limited.

On 1st June 2020 the legal entity, Flamefast Fire Systems Limited, was successfully migrated to become a subsidiary of Marlowe Fire & Security Limited and the next stage in our integration plan was to undertake a rebrand of Flamefast Fire Systems under the new name of Marlowe Kitchen Fire Suppression.
