Extinguishing your risk
Gas Suppression Systems
Gas Fire Suppression Systems are used to extinguish electrical fires by releasing a concentration of gas within a particular room.
Most commonly found in server rooms, computer suites and communication rooms a Gas Suppression system is responsible for protecting the integral functions of your business.
Watch the video below to see a typical Gas Fire Suppression System at work in an Electronic Equipment area.
Marlowe Fire & Security installs and services all types of fire suppression systems including:
- FM200®: A colourless gas, virtually odourless and non-conductive. It extinguishes fire mainly through physical means and is suitable for the protection of most risks where Halon 1301 would previously have been applied.
- INERT IG-55: A blend of Argon and Nitrogen which is found naturally in the atmosphere. It does not contribute to global warming and does not harm the ozone layer. It is highly recommended for the protection of electrical and electronic materials.
- CO²: Characterised by its rapid and efficient penetration in the area to be protected, it does not generate residue or decompose products.
- Water Mist: Some systems use water mist as part of the new generation of clean extinguishing agents. It is an efficient alternative to Halon systems.
Areas protected by fire suppression systems should be tested for air tightness upon commissioning of the system as air-leakage will result in the concentration of the fire suppressant agent falling too quickly. These annual checks are known as Room Integrity Tests.
Maintenance should be continued annually in accordance with NFPA 2001 and ISO 14520.
Kitchen Fire Suppression Systems
Marlowe Fire & Security installs and maintains Ansul R-102 fire protection systems in a host of commercial kitchen installations. Ansul fire suppression systems are recognised to be the worldwide number 1 protector of today’s commercial kitchens.
Commercial Kitchens utilise high temperature cooking oils, slow cooking appliances and deep-fat fryers all of which represent a difficult and unique challenge to maintaining a safe working environment and compliance to Health and Safety legislation.
Ansul kitchen fire suppression systems are fixed extinguishing systems designed to quickly detect and suppress kitchen fires using advanced extinguishing agents specifically designed to effectively combat kitchen fires and limit damage so that the kitchen can be quickly up and running again once the fire has been safely extinguished.
The application of Ansul fire suppression systems can ensure a far safer working environment for kitchen staff and can significantly reduce the insurance costs of industrial and commercial kitchens through the automatic detection and extinguishing of canopy and range fires.
To ensure system functionality and compliance to British and European Standards, Biannual maintenance visits are required.
