2019 has been a very exciting year at Marlowe Fire & Security as we continue on our journey to become the UK’s fire life safety and security service provider of choice.
As the year draws to a close, we take a look back at some of our achievements over the past 12 months. Our sincere thanks go to our customers, supply chain partners and all our Team Members who have made what we have achieved possible.

2019 began with the release of the collated results from the independently released and audited Employee Engagement Survey.
Based on the results, all Managers were then tasked with developing and deploying action plans, the benefits of which have been seen throughout the year.

The annual Bourne Leisure Health and Safety Conference is always a great start to our year.
The event is an excellent opportunity to discuss with our partners the many challenges facing the Leisure & Hospitality sector and demonstrate how our Fire Life Safety Solutions have improved and maintained our customers high standards of compliance.

We were proud to be on hand, as part of Marlowe Critical Services at the Hilton Hello Future! EMEA Engineering Conference.
The 3 day event was focused on 3 core themes; Maximise, Optimize and Energize.

We attended the Efficiency East Midlands (EEM) Building Communities Awards in support of Prostate Cancer UK and Rhubarb Farm, two charities we are proud to support.
Presenting the award for ‘Distributor of the Year’ to Grafton Supply Chain Solutions, we supported in raising over £35,000 for these very worthwhile causes.

We were delighted to announce that we passed our audit and were re-certified under the SafeContractor scheme.
SafeContractor is a SSIP (Safety Schemes In Procurement) approved health and safety assessment scheme for contractors who want to demonstrate that they’re taking responsibility for their legal health and safety requirements.

We recognise the importance of the mental health wellbeing of all our Team Members.
In March we arranged for professional Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training to be delivered to volunteers from across our business.

We were awarded ‘Heavenly Builder Award’ at the Master Builder Awards in partnership with O’Keeffe Building Services.
The award recognised the efficient completion of works at Coxmoor Golf Club, where the fire alarm, intruder and access control jobs were all completed under budget and ahead of time.

In March we hosted our first Innovation Day of 2019 at The Village Hotel in Bury.
The day provided our Customers with the opportunity to experience the latest innovations in security and fire life safety.
Free to attend and including certified CPD seminars the day was a great success.

We announce our partnership with Alcumus ISOQAR for the provision of ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001 accreditation.
ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001 is an expectation of our customers. Migration to ISO 45001 is under way and the next step in our partnership with ISOQAR.

In association with Care England, we attended the 2 day Care+ Forum.
Attended by our Core Sales Account Manager, Lorna Wilson the event presented us with the opportunity to develop our relationships with industry-leaders from nursing homes, hospices, hospitals and clinics.

We were proud to be nominated at the Safety & Health Excellence Awards 2019 in the category of Innovation of the Year for Fire for the innovative Sprinkler Retrofit Programme we delivered across the Nottingham City Homes estate.

We took our first step in becoming certified under the Institute of Customer Service (ICS), the professional body for customer service.
Its main purpose is to lead, govern and guide UK industry in customer service performance and professionalism. The service they provide will ensure we constantly improve our business performance to meet the needs of our customers.

World Mental Health Awareness Week was an important event that allowed the exploration and discussion of this often-neglected subject. More importantly, it is an opportunity to help remove some of the preconceptions that, unfortunately, still surround this area of our everyday health and wellbeing.

We added 20 new Vauxhall Combi vans to our fleet, a move that gives extra flexibility to our team of engineers in the field and maintains our professional appearance.
The vehicles, which replace the older models, feature our most up to date livery which goes a long way in projecting the values of our customer charter.

In July we upgraded our CHAS Certification to CHAS Premium +.
This achievement reflects the hard work of our HSQE Team and dedication throughout the business to the continual improvement of standards.

We were pleased to attend the Fire Protection Association (FPA) ‘Building A Safer Future’ seminar, an opportunity to discuss the grey areas of the implementation of the Hackitt Review.
Speakers addressed the implications for industry, stakeholders, and residents of tall buildings, and how different agencies can work together to improve and promote fire safety.

As part of our Institute of Customer Service Membership, the ICS undertook a Customer Satisfaction Survey, contacting over 4,000 customers.
The benchmarking exercise established where we are strong and where improvement is required. The key learnings from the survey have already been implemented and we look forward to the results of our 2020 survey.

In August we rolled out our Long Service Award Scheme.
Our Long Service Recognition Policy recognises and values the contribution of all Team Members and we feel it is important to formally acknowledge the commitment and loyalty of all staff that have completed key milestones of continuous employment.

At the end of the summer, our Senior Support Engineer and ‘face’ of Marlowe Fire & Security, Bill Henderson took part in a 24 hour cycle race at Brands Hatch, raising money for our chosen charity partner, Cancer Research UK.

Over 500 Marlowe Critical Services customers and company representatives attended our Compliance Day at Wembley Stadium to hear about the latest trends in Fire Safety & Regulation from key industry figures.
It proved a most informative day with guest speakers including Dame Judith Hackitt who provided her Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety which followed the Grenfell Fire Tragedy.

It was our pleasure to have played a part in celebrating 100 years of Council Housing at the Nottingham City Homes annual Fun Day.
Over 2,600 residents attended and engaged with us on the necessary fire safety solutions we have rolled out within their homes.

In September 2019, we launched our Employee of the Month initiative with the objective of celebrating the achievements of our Team Members.
Every month, colleagues are invited to submit their nominations for Employee of the Month which ultimately chosen by our CEO.
The scheme runs in addition to our Customer Recognition Policy.

National Customer Service Week was a week long opportunity to raise awareness of customer service across our business.
The themes of; Insight, Capability & Skills, Recognition, Leadership and Trust were embraced by all Marlowe Team Members through a number of activities and initiatives that are still generating benefit today.

On Sunday 13th October, Team Members from across our business took part in the Manchester Half Marathon and raised over £4,000 + £780 in Gift Aid in support of our chosen charity, Cancer Research UK.
Training diligently for months prior to the event, the Team did us proud; dealing with injuries, achieving personal bests and for many runners it was the first time they had ever ran the 21K distance!

We were named as finalists in the Security & Fire Excellence Awards.
Standing alongside several industry leaders, our innovative perimeter intrusion solution which incorporated; CCTV, facial recognition, access control, intruder and asset tracking technology, was shortlisted as Security Project of the Year.

Our new website was launched with our customers in mind.
The new site provides a comprehensive overview of our services and solutions, a knowledge centre where you can find compliance related articles, and several interactive features including CPD registration, Customer Feedback Form and Are You Protected Survey.

During November our chosen Charity Partner, Cancer Research UK, invited Team Members from our Charity Committee to attend their national Research Facility in Greater Manchester.
The tour of the state of the art facility, educated our team members on the important work Cancer Research UK are undertaking to stop cancer sooner.

We attended the Security In Education conference at The University of Salford.
The event was an opportunity to discuss the bespoke solutions we provide to the education sector and how we ensure safe and secure environments for students and staff alike.

In December, we took the plunge and signed the lease for our new Head Office at Salford Quays, Manchester.
The new site is currently being remodelled to our exact specification in preparation for our move next year.
A state of the art Training Facility and Innovation Showroom alongside modern, bright and welcoming offices, embrace our culture of connectivity and ‘one team’ mentality.

We were delighted to announce the Marlowe plc acquisitionof FSE Fire Safety Systems.
This acquisition represents the next step in our ongoing growth strategy and Group vision to become the UK’s most trusted name in the provision of regulated compliance services.
This enhancement to our Division’s existing expertise strengthens and enhances our existing capabilities and national coverage.
