When dead batteries are discarded along with general rubbish or mixed with other recycling, they can come back to life as dangerous “zombies” – wreaking havoc at recycling and waste management facilities.

All of these real incidents were caused by batteries in UK waste management facilities and captured on CCTV or by operatives between 2019 and 2022.
